AccuRadio Song Of The Day-Thievery Corporation

Artist:Thievery Corporation f/Pam Bricker
Song:Lebanese Blonde
Album:It Takes A Thief: The Very Best Of Thievery Corporation

The duo Thievery Corporation have been around since the mid-90s with their jazz and bossa nova  influenced electronic music. They usually bring in guest singers as they did with the 1998 single Lebanese Blonde. It was the first of their songs that DJs really liked. The song also got a big boost when it was used in the popular film Garden State. Thievery Corporation came out of the Washington, DC club scene. Rob Garza and Eric Hilton owned the Eighteenth Street Lounge in Washington. They started their own label in 1996. It's electronic music influenced by jazz, Brazilian music and Asian music. Lebanese Blonde was released as a single in 1998 and then it appeared on the 2000 album The Mirror Conspiracy. And as I said it got a big boost when it was used in Garden State. They usually bring in guest singers and sometimes extra musicians. In this case the singer was Washington based jazz singer Pam Bricker who sadly committed suicide in 2005. Rick Harris contributed the horns. Guitarist Rob Myers of Thunderball played the sitar and the percussion is by Brazilian Roberto Berimbau. Thievery Corporation continues to release albums and they tour as well. Their latest CD The Temple Of I & I was released Feb. 2017. This budget comp is a good intro to their music. Here's the video for Lebanese Blonde by Thievery Corporation featuring Pam Bricker.
