AccuRadio Song Of The Day-Michelle Wright

Artist:Michelle Wright
Song:Take It Like A Man
Album:Cryin', Lyin', Lovin' & Leavin'

Canadian born country singer Michelle Wright had her biggest hit with Take It Like A Man in 1992. She has been more successful in Canada and she is still active there. I think she is frequently confused with country singer Chely Wright. Michelle Wright was born July 1, 1961 in Chatham, ON. Her parents were both local country music performers. Michelle started performing in bands while studying in college to be a counselor for the mentally disadvantaged. She signed with Canadian country music label Savannah Records and she released the 1988 album Do Right By Me. The album was written and produced by Rick Giles and Steve Bogard. A cover of Andy Kim's Rock Me Gently got enough attention to get her a US record deal with Arista Nashville. Her 1990 US debut album Michelle Wright and the single New Kind Of Love did well enough that Michelle moved to Nashville to record the 1992 album Now and Then. Take It Like A Man reached #10 on the Country Singles chart and it would turn out to be Michelle's biggest hit. She had several number one country hits in Canada. Take It Like A Man was written by Tony Haselden of Le Roux. Though Michelle continued to have success in Canada, her next two CDs did poorly in the US and Arista dropped her in 1996. There are a couple of Michelle Wright comps available but they are too expensive. You can get Take It Like A Man on this various artists budget comp from Intersound. Michelle's duet with pianist Jim Brickman Your Love was a Adult Contemporary hit in 1999. Michelle returned to Canada and released albums on RCA Canada and Universal Canada. She currently records for Savannah which is owned by her manager. Her latest CD Strong was released in 2013 and she still tours in Canada. Michelle Wright was inducted into the Canadian Country Music Hall of Fame in 2011. Here's the video for Take It Like A Man by Michelle Wright.
