VV Mei |
After her win over WINDY Tomomi on yesterday's PANCRASE show, VALKYRIE Featherweight Champion VV Mei said she wanted another fight as soon as possible. So PANCRASE held a press conference today to announce that she will face Betiko in a non-title match on the May 3 Differ Ariake show. I don't expect it to be the main event this time. You'll notice the poster features the Bantamweight King Of PANCRASE Championship match. Betiko is the fighter formerly known as Akiko Naito. She trains at the RJW branch of WK and is a teammate of undefeated Ayume "Iris" Miura. Betiko has been around since 2004. Her record is 6-10 and her last fight was a loss to WINDY Tomomi on the Dec. 5 PANCRASE show. That was her first match as Betiko and she said she had a new attitude. She lost a majority decision. She hasn't had any success against tougher competition with two losses to Kyoko Takabayashi. I don't see her as a threat to VV Mei. Mei says she's fine after yesterday's win. Her face is a little swollen. She got tagged pretty good a couple of times. She said she made a couple of stupid mistakes that could have cost her the match. She thought she won the match more decisively than the scoring reflected. She says the earthquake did affect her training schedule adversely. But she also said she's not concerned about the quick turnaround to this match. The match is scheduled for two five minute rounds.
