Jango Song Of The Day-Mundy

Artist:Mundy
Song:To You I Bestow
Album:William Shakespeare's Romeo + Juliet: Music From The Motion Picture: 10th Anniversary Edition

Irish singer songwriter Mundy is best known for this song from Baz Luhrmann's 1996 film Romeo + Juliet. It's been all downhill from there as he was dumped by Sony after one album. He now has his own company. He was born Edmund Enright Feb. 12, 1976 in Birr, County Offaly, Ireland. He moved to Dublin at age 18 and became a busker. He was discovered by Martin "Youth" Glover formerly of Killing Joke and signed with Epic. To You I Bestow was released as a single and then Mundy got a break when the song was licensed to be used in Romeo + Juliet. And they even did a video for the song. The soundtrack sold eleven million copies worldwide. But Mundy's debut CD Jellylegs didn't sell and Epic dropped him while he was recording his follow up CD in 1999. So Mundy took the royalties he earned from To You I Bestow and started his own Camcor label. He's not well known in the US but he's done very well on the Irish charts. His latest CD Strawberry Blood was released Apr. 2009. If you're interested in the Romeo + Juliet soundtrack, EMI released a 10th Anniversary Edition in 2007 with four bonus tracks. Here's the video for To You I Bestow by Mundy.
