Aspen Ladd signs her UFC contract |
Yesterday the UFC announced that two women's matches have been added to The Ultimate Fighter 25 Finale July 7 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. In a Bantamweight fight, Aspen Ladd will face Jessica Eye. And in a Strawweight bout, Angela Hill will face Ashley Yoder. This show will air on Fox Sports 1 in the US and TSN in Canada. These fights will air on the prelims. The big news is that 22 year old undefeated prospect Aspen Ladd will make her UFC debut. Most fans should be familiar with her 5-0 Invicta run. She trains at MMA Gold in El Dorado Hills, CA. The bottom line is Aspen looked really good in Invicta. She obviously has the fight skills. What I like about her is she is very calm in the cage. She goes in and takes care of business. She has a lot of poise for a 22 year old kid. A lot of fans were surprised that Jessica wasn't released after four straight losses. The UFC agreed to give her one last chance after taking a break. I don't think she has progressed as a fighter. Jessica is a striker with no ground game. In her last fight, she lost a split decision to Bethe Correia who is a mediocre fighter that Jessica should beat if she's any good. But she didn't. If she loses this fight, it has to be over for her. Readers of this blog will know that I don't care much for Angela Hill. She's just another one dimensional kickboxer. She returned to the UFC after a 4-0 Invicta run and not surprisingly, she lost to Jessica Andrade. Angela should win this fight because Ashley Yoder is nothing special. She was in TUF 23 and most of the fighters who were on that show are blah. And she lost her UFC debut to Justine Kish in a blah fight. This fight seems like a UFC Fight Pass curtain jerker that will go the distance and no one will care.
