Artist:Great Northern
Song:Home
Album:Trading Twilight for Daylight
With a name like Great Northern, you might think this band is Canadian. But no, they are from Los Angeles. Solon Bixler was guitarist for the band Thirty Seconds to Mars. You may recall that band was led by actor Jared Leto. He met Whirlpool lead singer Rachel Stolte and they started working together. They signed with the indie label Eenie Meanie and recorded the 2007 album Trading Twilight for Daylight with Ashley Dzerigia on bass and Davey Latter on drums. The album was produced by Matthias Schneeberger at his recording studio in Arcadia. Bixler and Rachel write all the songs together. They released an EP in 2008 followed by the 2009 album Remind Me Where the Light Is produced by Michael Patterson. Since then Great Northern has released music in dribs and drabs because they aren't really a band anymore. It's just the two of them. After announcing plans for a new album in 2010, they eventually released an album to iTunes and Bandcamp in 2015. They released a couple of singles in 2023. An album was supposedly in the works but it has not been released. They have been married since 2014. The delays probably drive their fans nuts. But Rome wasn't built in a day. Here's the video for Home by Great Northern.
