Artist:The Perrys
Song:It Carried Him
Album:Testament
The Southern Gospel group The Perrys have been around since the 70s. It Carried Him is from the 2017 album Testament. As is common with this kind of music, the personnel has turned over several times since they were formed in Dawsonville, GA in the early 70s by siblings Randy, Debbi and Libbi Perry. By the time they first recorded in the 80s, Libbi's husband Tracy Stuffle was added to sing bass. After David Perry left in 1994, the changes became more frequent. They went through several guys until Joseph Habedank joined in 2004. By this time The Perrys were on Daywind Records. A lot of Southern Gospel acts record for Daywind. By the time they switched to Stowtown Records in 2014, Libbi Perry Stuffle was the only original member of The Perrys. The other members are her husband Tracy Stuffle, their son Jared Stuffle, Troy Peach who joined in 2009 and new lead singer Andrew Goldman. Shouldn't the name be changed to The Stuffles? Never mind. Stowtown is owned by Wayne Haun so he writes and produces everything on Stowtown. He's not looking for huge sales figures. He's just looking for consistency so the faithful continue to buy the music. At least there is a music video for It Carried Him. You don't see many music videos in Southern Gospel. Tracy Stuffle died in 2018. Jared Stuffle has taken over as bass singer. Dayton Gay and Jason Gordon are new members. Libbi Perry Stuffle is still the remaining original member of The Perrys. They are on tour and they released their latest album in 2022. I'm not a fan of current Southern Gospel. Most of the groups look and sound the same. Even the album covers look similar. But that's what Southern Gospel fans want. Here's the video for It Carried Him by The Perrys.
