Singer songwriter Benson Boone successfully auditioned for American Idol in 2021. When he discovered that they weren't going to let him perform his own songs, he quit the show. That paid off in a big way when the 2024 single Beautiful Things topped charts worldwide. He was born June 25, 2002 in Monroe, WA. Boone discovered his musical talent when a high school classmate asked him to appear in a battle of the bands. He was going to go to college but decided to concentrate on music. After posting videos on Tik Tok, Benson auditioned for American Idol. When he was invited to advance to Hollywood Week, Benson changed his mind and left the show. He returned to posting videos on Tik Tok. One of the videos got the attention of Imagine Dragons leader Dan Reynolds. Reynolds signed Boone to his Night Street label with Warner Bros. distribution. When Boone's 2021 single Ghost Town charted and so did his EP Walk Me Home..., that led to the 2024 album Fireworks & Rollerblades. The single Beautiful Things reached #2 on the Billboard Hot 100 and topped the charts worldwide. Boone wrote all the songs with co-writers and producers. Jason Suwito of the band Sir Sly produced five songs. Evan Blair and Jack LaFrantz wrote and produced Beautiful Things. Boone is currently on tour in Europe. Would Benson Boone have had the same success if he had stayed on American Idol? I doubt it but I don't think he expected to score a big hit single either.
