Of course Enrique Iglesias is the son of Julio Iglesias. He has had success in Spanish and English. The 1999 single Bailamos was his first English number one hit. He was born May 8, 1975 in Madrid, Spain the youngest of Julio Iglesias' three children. After attending a private high school in Miami, he studied business at the University of Miami. He dropped out after one year to launch his music career. Iglesias didn't want his dad to know about his music career and he didn't want to use his family's name. So he recorded a demo as Enrique Martinez from Guatemala and got a record deal with the Mexican label Fonovisa. Though he had success in the Spanish language market, Iglesias wanted to record in English. So he left Fonovisa for Interscope. After Bailamos appeared on the soundtrack of the 1999 film The Wild Wild West, it topped the Billboard Hot 100. It was the first single from the 1999 album Enrique. The album was certified Platinum. Bailamos was written and produced by the British writing and production team of Paul Barry, Mark Taylor and Brian Rawling. They produced a lot of the album. The guitar solo is by British session musician Adam Phillips. Iglesias has continued to have success. He currently records for Sony. He released his latest album in 2021.
