Kelly Kelly still WWE Divas Champion

Remember last week I was talking about TNA's booking cluelessness. We're talking about a company with the slogan Wrestling Matters but they start each episode of Impact with a half hour of yakking. The problem with the WWE is just the opposite. Sometimes they're too self aware for their own good. They have a bad habit of going against conventional booking logic for no reason. So from Sunday's Night Of Champions PPV, here's Kelly Kelly defending her WWE Divas Championship against Beth Phoenix to illustrate this. So they've been building this Divas Of Doom angle. Last month I had no problem with Kelly retaining the title on a fluke rollup pin. But they had an opportunity to do the title change on Sunday and give Beth the opportunity to become a star. In addition, the show was in Beth's hometown of Buffalo. So why didn't they pull the trigger on it? I had read reports of WWE Creative indecision about this match probably up until the match itself. They kept changing their minds. This is always a bad sign in the WWE as they inevitably do the wrong thing. The result is that Kelly Kelly retained the WWE Divas Championship with yet another fluke rollup pin. And she didn't even do it right. Kelly botched it. Her legs aren't covering Beth's arms. Look, the superplex should have killed Kelly. And then Beth goes for a powerbomb instead of her Glam Slam finisher. Ugh! Beth's hometown fans were stunned. It was stupid. The angle now is that Kelly has Beth's number and Beth can't beat her. We've seen that angle before. And I would be OK with it if Kelly was a halfway decent wrestler. But she's not and she's been around the WWE long enough that it's obvious that she never will be a good wrestler. Sometimes even pro wrestling angles need to make sense. This one fails that test. Enjoy the video!
