Erika Kamimura looking for more gold

Erika Kamimura
18 year old kickboxing champ Erika Kamimura held an open workout today to promote her upcoming title match on the Oct. 2 WBC Muay Thai show at Korakuen Hall which is actually being promoted by the New Japan Kickboxing Federation. She will challenge British kickboxer Denise Mellor for her WBC Muay Thai Mini Flyweight Championship. The match was first rumoured a couple of months ago. This will be Erika's first attempt to secure an international title. Erika says she watched video of Denise and the main thing she is working on is her Muay Thai clinches. She thinks her boxing and kicks are pretty good already. She has confidence in her ability but knows Denise is a good fighter and isn't taking her for granted. Erika says she plans to knock Denise out. The show has a Japan vs The World theme and Erika wants to make her Japanese teammates proud. She's very excited about the international status of the WBC Muay Thai title and feels a win will move her up in the world rankings. She also believes it will open up opportunities overseas. When asked about her Nov. 23 SHOOT BOXING match vs RENA, she says she'll knock her out too.
