Rin Nakai added to June 19 VALKYRIE show

VALKYRIE announced today on their blog that they have added one more match to their June 19 Differ Ariake show. In a match contracted for 61.2kg and scheduled for three three minute rounds, the undefeated Rin Nakai will face women's MMA pioneer Megumi Yabushita. Rin Nakai trains at Shooto in Skikoku. Her record is 6-0 and her last win was over Mizuho Sato at the Feb. 11 VALKYRIE show. Rin has become quite the internet sensation in the last few months. She used to fight at 56kg but last year she decided to move up a weight class probably because there are more opportunities at the heavier weight class. But she didn't just gain weight. She pumped major league iron and now she has guns that will blow your brains out. She was already a great fighter and an elite athlete. This makeover just makes her more dangerous. Megumi Yabushita trains at FIGHTCHIX. Her record is 19-16 and her last fight was a win over Mutsumi Kasai at the Apr. 11 VALKYRIE show. Of course Megumi is a women's MMA pioneer and she's still active in pro wrestling. She's a good test for the Beautiful Backflip Woman but I expect Rin to prevail and then do her trademark backflip. Strikeforce had better be watching. In other news, after recent shoulder surgery, former VALKYRIE Lightweight Champ Yuka Tsuji announced on her blog today that she will undergo surgery on her right knee. Her knee has bothered her for a while and her surgeon decided that since she was recovering from the shoulder surgery anyway, she might as well get her knee repaired too. I expect Yuka to return to VALKYRIE in 2011. Too bad she won't be in the Bellator tournament but let's all wish her a speedy recovery.
