Artist:Anointed
Song:Must Have Been Angels
Album:Anointed
Anointed is a gospel group that was promoted to Contemporary Christian audiences. A lot of times crossover is an accident but that wasn't the case with Anointed. The group is led by the brother/sister duo of Steve & De'Adra Crawford. They formed the group while in high school in Columbus, OH with Mary Tiller & Nee-C Walls. Anointed was signed to Word Records in 1993 by producers Mark Heimermann & Chris Harris. Both guys work mostly with Contemporary Christian artists so Anointed was sold to that market. They had a big hit with The Call in 1995 and then Mary Tiller left the group. They continued as a trio and had a hit with Under The Influence in 1996. This 1999 CD Anointed had a big hit with Revive Us. On this, they mostly worked with mainstream R & B producers like Tony Rich & Keith Crouch. Must Have Been Angels is an excellent ballad written & produced by CCM producer Wayne Tester. Walls left the group at this point. Until now, Word had a distribution agreement with Sony. When that ended, Anointed continued as a duo and stayed with Sony. Their latest CD is 2005's Now Is The Time. Steve & De'Adra still write a lot of their own songs and have been working with Mary Mary producer Warryn "Babydub" Campbell. They're still with Sony. Nee-C Walls released the CD Stronger in 2003 on her own label under the name Nissy. I'm sure we'll hear more from Anointed in the near future. They're a very good gospel act. Here's Anointed's video for Under The Influence.
