AccuRadio Song Of The Day-Modern Baseball

Artist:Modern Baseball

Song:Apple Cider, I Don't Mind

Album:Holy Ghost

Modern Baseball is an indie band who had modest success until they went on hiatus in 2017. It doesn't look like the band will return. Modern Baseball is from Brunswick, MD. Bren Lukens and Jake Ewald met in high school when Lukens was interested in Ewald's twin sister. Both guys sing and play guitar. The name Modern Baseball is from a book found in Ewald's basement. After moving to Philadelphia to attend college, they met bassist Ian Farmer and he helped them record the 2012 album Sports with drummer Sean Huber. It was released on Lame-O Records. They decided to leave school and try music as a profession. For the 2014 album Run for Cover, Modern Baseball signed with the larger Run for Cover label. Apple Cider, I Don't Mind is from the 2016 album Holy Ghost. Lukens wrote the song. Ewald also wrote songs for the album. They brought Joe Reinhart from the bands Hop Along and Algernon Cadwallader to produce. He is also an audio engineer who owns his own recording studio. Meanwhile Ewald formed the band Slaughter Beach, Dog and they released an album in 2016. After touring to support the album, Modern Baseball went on hiatus. It looks like Lukens tired of the grind as Ewald and Farmer immediately started working on Slaughter Beach, Dog. That band has released four albums. Lukens is with the duo Broken Beak. In a 2017 interview, Ewald hesitated to say Modern Baseball split up. But he didn't think they would reunite. I think we can call it an official split now.
