Though they perform Brazilian music, Brasuka is actually from Dallas. A Vida Com Paixao is their debut album. They started out ten years ago as a Sergio Mendes tribute band. They progressed to writing their own songs and now they have released an album. The singer is Rosana Eckert. She also plays keyboards. She has released a couple of albums. The other members are Denny Robinson on keyboards, Tom Burchill on guitar, Brian Warthen on bass, Jose Aponte on drums and Ricardo Bozas on percussion. They have all appeared in local bands like Texas All Star Jazz Camp Big Band, One O'Clock Lab Band and Metroplexity Big Band. They signed with Outside in Music and released A Vida Com Paixao last year. Nine of the ten songs are original. Marakandombe is clearly Bossa Nova influenced with contemporary touches.
