Nanaka Kawamura, Yuko Kiryu |
DEEP JEWELS announced that DEEP JEWELS 21 will be Sept. 16 at Shinjuku FACE. The main event hasn't been announced yet. But three matches have been announced for the show. They have also called for amateur fighter applications. That may fill up much of the card. All three matches are at Atomweight and are scheduled for two five minute rounds. Nanaka Kawamura will face Yuko Kiryu. 22 year old Nanaka is from the popular idol group Masked Woman. Obviously DEEP JEWELS is desperately trying to turn her into a fighter because she's already a celebrity. So far she's 1-1. She won her last fight in June over Momoko Yamazaki by TKO. That would be good news except Momoko is not really a pro fighter. She's a club hostess who was making her pro debut after some amateur fights. I guess they think an easy win will give Momoko confidence. Yuko is 30 years old. She trains at Brave and she has a 6-6 record. Her last win was at the March DEEP JEWELS show over Tomomi Souda who was making her MMA debut at age 39. She's attractive but a low level fighter. Tomo Maesawa will face Park Jung Eun. Tomo is 30 years old. Her record is 10-8. She seems to alternate wins and losses. Her last fight was a win at the March DEEP JEWELS show over Yuko Saito who is an older fighter with a 2-1 record. Park might have some potential. She's 21 years old from Korea with a 4-3-1 record. She made her DEEP JEWELS debut in March with a win over Emi Tomimatsu. She has also fought for Road FC. And in the third fight, Emi Sato will face Mizuki Furuse. Emi is 37 years old. Her record is 3-2. All three of her wins were over winless fighters. She has fought for Shooto and DEEP. Mizuki is 17 years old from Kanagawa, Japan. She has a 2-4-1 record. Obviously they want to encourage her because she's young. But she has to beat someone to move up and she hasn't done that. All three fights will be on the prelims. Stay tuned for further announcements from DEEP JEWELS.
