Welcome to Frank Pozen's Big Bad Blog. A lot of folks have been asking me to update them about my recovery. So I thought I would start a blog primarily to do that but also to talk about other topics of interest including the wrestling business and whatever else I can think of. I plan to update this on a regular basis so check back and leave a comment if you wish.

Analysis of Invicta FC 19
Yesterday the full card for Invicta FC 19 was announced. It will be Sept. 23 at the Scottish Rite Temple in Kansas City. That dump must be really cheap. This will air on UFC Fight Pass. There will be two title matches on this show. The first one will have Invicta Interim Flyweight Champ Jennifer Maia defend against popular veteran Roxanne Modafferi. I have no problem with the fight except that this has been an interim title since March and we don't know if Invicta Flyweight champ Barb Honchak will return. Last year there was talk that she might return in early 2016. But there has been nothing lately. So I think they need to update Barb's status and if she isn't returning in the near future, take the interim off the title. The other title match will have Ayaka Hamasaki defending her Invicta Atomweight Championship against Jinh Yu Frey. I think this fight should close the show because it's not for an interim title. Jinh earned this title shot by beating former champ Herica Tiburcio. It's an interesting fight but I expect Ayaka to win. The rest of the main card is weak. Irene Aldana will face Faith Van Duin at Bantamweight. Faith is usually a Featherweight and the last time we saw her she got clobbered by Cris Cyborg. I would not have brought her back. Irene is a teammate of Alexa Grasso but she's nowhere near as good. And I don't see this as a fight that advances her. Indian Manjit Kolekar will face Kaline Medeiros. Manjit was supposed to be on the last show but she had visa problems. She has fought mostly for Super Fight League. In her Invicta debut, Kaline beat Aline Serio who is one of the worst fighters in Brazil. It's a prelim match. It shouldn't be on the main card. And overhyped kickboxer Tiffany Van Soest will make her MMA debut on the prelims and face an opponent TBA. I don't know if Tiffany is any good at MMA and neither do you. Without the frequent TV appearances, it's likely she wouldn't be in MMA at all. In an Atomweight bout, Julia Jones will face Stephanie Skinner. Julia is 4-0 in regional MMA. I know nothing about her. I do know about Stephanie. She's from Wyoming. Her record is 4-5 but she won her last two fights over Kyra Batara and Angelica Chavez. Of course that was two years ago. So who knows. Amber Leibrock will face Amy Coleman. Both are inexperienced Featherweights. Amber lost to Megan Anderson on the Jan. Invicta show. In a Strawweight bout, Ashley Greenway will face Sunna Davidsdottir. Ashley won her Invicta and MMA debut in March. Sunna is from Iceland and she will be making her MMA debut. It's a little better than their last show but I still think the main card could be stronger.
