Song:The Music Of My Soul
Album:Memphis: A New Musical: Original Broadway Cast Recording
Chad Kimball was nominated for a Tony award for starring in the 2011 musical Memphis. Because he had to leave the show due to an injury, he hasn't been that active though it looks like he plans to return to Broadway next month. Kimball was born Sept. 2, 1976 in Seattle. He studied at the Boston Conservatory and he moved to New York after graduating. He appeared in the 2000 revival of Godspell and the 2002 revival of Into The Woods. He also appeared in the musicals Lennon and Good Vibrations. But the show that made Kimball famous was Memphis was loosely based on the life of legendary DJ Dewey Phillips. Memphis was written by Bon Jovi keyboard player David Bryan and playwright Joe DiPietro. It ran on Broadway from 2009-2012 and it was also nominated for several Tonys. It won four including Best Musical. Kimball was nominated but did not win. Memphis was filmed and it is available on DVD. In Oct. 2011, Kimball was forced to leave Memphis due to a nerve injury he suffered during a performance. He was replaced by Adam Pascal. Since then he hasn't been that active. He did have a recurring role on the online sitcom Wallflowers. But now it looks like he will return to Broadway in the new musical Come From Away with Memphis director Christopher Ashley. Come From Away has played in Seattle and San Diego and it will begin a short run at The Ford Theater in New York on Sept. 2. If that is successful, it should lead to more work for Kimball. Here's Chad Kimball with Montego Glover and cast performing The Music Of My Soul from the Memphis DVD.
