Today DEEP held a press conference to announce the opponent for Amanda Lucas who of course is George Lucas' daughter. That opponent is veteran Jill of all trades Hikaru Shinohara. I didn't know that she was still in the fight business. Her normal fighting weight is 60kg so I don't know what DEEP will do about the size difference. The bottom line is Shinohara isn't a credible fighter anymore and she was never that good when she was more active. First, Hikaru Shinohara's claim to infamy is she is the daughter of the man who stabbed Japanese wrestling pioneer Rikidozan. That's a hell of a thing to have to carry around for your whole life. Her MMA record is 6-7 and her last fight was a loss to MIKU on the Dec. 22, 2008 DEEP show. Hikaru has also done pro wrestling and other stuff. I also know she has worked a lot for T-1 GP. That's a pro wrestling company owned by T-1 ticket agency owner Futami. No one good will work for him because he's a lunatic. But Hikaru has never been a full time fighter. She does a lot of modelling and works frequently as a ring girl. She's someone who has been on the fringe of the Japanese fight business for a decade. Because of her looks, she doesn't have to depend on the fight business to make a living. DEEP is trying to sell that she has an experience edge over Amanda Lucas. It just confirms what we already knew. DEEP is doing this match as a publicity gimmick in the hope that George Lucas will show up. Ugh!
