The 1987 single I've Been a Fool for You was one of two top ten R&B hits for singer Miles Jaye. He has recorded for his own label since 1994. He was born Miles Jaye Davis Nov. 12,1957 in Yonkers, NY. He studied musical theory and classical violin at the Brooklyn Conservatory of Music. He sang and played various instruments while in the US Air Force. After his discharge, Jaye toured with guitarist Eric Gale and singers Phyllis Hyman and Jon Lucien. In 1982 he replaced Victor Willis as lead singer of The Village People. After two years there, Jaye signed with Teddy Pendergrass' Top Priority Records distributed by Island's 4th & Broadway label. The first single Let's Start Love Over featuring Roy Ayers reached #5 on the R&B Singles chart. The second single I've Been a Fool for You reached #8 on the R&B Singles chart. Though Jaye will remind you of Pendergrass and other R&B singers, Pendergrass did not appear on this album but he did send his Philly Soul buddy Dexter Wansel who produced I've Been a Fool for You. Jaye wrote most of the songs and played piano. Jaye also produced several songs on the 1988 Teddy Pendergrass album Joy. Davis recorded three albums for Island mostly self produced. He started his own label in 1994 and has recorded mostly smooth jazz. In recent years Jaye has performed tribute shows to R&B legends like Teddy Pendergrass and Luther Vandross.
