Artist:Greg Long f/Margaret Becker
Song:How Long
Album:The Definitive Collection
Singer songwriter Greg Long had success in CCM in the 90s. He joined the popular group Avalon and he is still in that group. He was born Dec. 12, 1966 in Aberdeen, SD. As a child, he travelled with his father's music ministry. He signed with Word's Myrrh label and released his debut album Cross My Heart in 1994. The album was produced by former Kansas lead singer John Elefante and his brother Dino Elefante. They had their own label with a distribution deal with Myrrh. How Long topped the CCM charts. Margaret Becker was a popular CCM artist. It's the kind of record that could have crossed over to pop if it been marketed that way. Word did that but not with Long. Maybe he didn't want that. Long wrote four songs on the album. How Long was written by veteran CCM songwriters Connie Harrington and Joe Beck. Long continued to have success in the CCM market. He recorded three albums with the Elefante brothers. When he switched to new producers for the 2000 album Now, it wasn't as successful. And that led to Long leaving Word. After one more album in 2004, Long decided to replace Michael Passons in the CCM group Avalon. His wife Janna is a member of Avalon. Word released this comp in 2007. Long continues to record and tour with Avalon. He doesn't record solo anymore. Here's the video for How Long by Greg Long featuring Margaret Becker.
