Though he appears in films and TV, Danny Burstein is mainly a Broadway performer. He has been nominated for seven Tony awards including for playing Tevye in the 2015 revival of Fiddler on the Roof. He won a Tony for the 2020 show Moulin Rouge!. He was born June 16, 1964 in Mt. Kisco, NY. His parents separated when he was two months old. He was raised by his mother from Costa Rica and his stepfather Harvey Burstein, a professor of Greek philosophy. While attending the High School of the Performing Arts, Burstein appeared in community theater and summer stock. He studied at Queens College followed by graduate studies at the University of California. After graduating in 1990, Burstein moved back to New York and started appearing on Broadway. Burstein's first Tony nomination was for the 2006 musical The Drowsy Chaperone. He also made several guest appearances on the TV series Law & Order. Other Tony nominations were for South Pacific (2008), Follies (2012), Golden Boy (2013), Cabaret (2014) and then Fiddler on the Roof in 2016. He finally won a Tony for the 2020 musical Moulin Rouge!. He still appears in that show. He has done mostly guest shots on TV. He still appears on the various Law & Order shows. He is in the new HBO series about the Los Angeles Lakers called Winning Time.
