AccuRadio Song Of The Day-Big Data

Artist:Big Data f/Joywave

Song:Dangerous

Album:2.0

Big Data topped the Alt Rock chart with Dangerous in 2015. The success of the song got him a record deal with Warner Bros. Big Data is not a band. Alan Wilkis was doing remixes at his home in Brooklyn, NY when in 2012 he decided he could make his own instrumental tracks and bring in guest vocalists. Dangerous first appeared on the 2012 EP 1.0 on Wilkis' own label. The indie band Joywave is officially credited but lead singer Daniel Armbruster wrote the lyrics and sang. After Dangerous appeared in the film Veronica Mars, Wilkis signed with Warner Bros. and performed Dangerous with Armbruster on Late Night with Seth Meyers. That's when Dangerous topped the Alt Rock chart. The album 2.0 was released in 2015. Wilkis creates the instrumental tracks for all the songs and brings in guest vocalists like Rivers Cuomo of Weezer, Morgan "White Sea" Kibby and Jamie Liddell. The singers write the lyrics. That's what Wilkis was doing as a remixer. He took existing vocals and provided a new backing track. So it's understandable that he would want to create his own music. Wilkis released a second Big Data album in 2019 called 3.0 on his own label. Wilkis said on Facebook that the album is about Artificial Intelligence. It doesn't seem like he is interested in making commercial music. Warners probably didn't like that. So the success of Dangerous was probably a fluke. Here's the video of Dangerous by Big Data.
