Sarah Kaufman throws down the gauntlet to Miesha Tate

The women's match scheduled for the May 15 Strikeforce show in Fresno was likely to be a mismatch. Now it has the potential to be the 2009 match of the year. Forget Carano/Cyborg. This is gonna be better. Don't miss it. The original fight scheduled was to be Kim Couture against Miesha Tate contracted for 135lb. Miesha's record is 5-1 and her most recent win was over Dora Baptiste at the Feb. 21 Atlas Fights show in Biloxi, MS. Miesha worked previously for Strikeforce and defeated Elaina Maxwell in 2007. She is an accomplished grappler looking for an opportunity to get back on TV. We all know why Kim was going to be on TV but she shouldn't be fighting someone like Miesha. So last week Kim dropped out of the fight for "personal reasons". Raw Vegas reported on Friday that Randy Couture filed for divorce. But the good news is that Sarah Kaufman stepped up and Strikeforce confirmed the fight today. Sarah's record is 8-0 and her most recent win was over Sarah Schneider at the Apr. 29 PFC show in Lemoore, CA. Sarah has devastating punching power and seven of her wins have been via TKO and the other is a KO. Of course Sarah is under contract to Strikeforce. But they are so focused on Gina Carano that Sarah was being overlooked to the point where Strikeforce allowed her to fight for PFC. She was being asked if she would move up to 145 to fight the Carano/Cyborg winner. I don't think she should have to do that. Scott Coker has said that he will have other weight classes but he only scheduled this fight as a favour to Kim. Sarah wants them to notice her and this potential fight of the year featuring top grade talent will do just that. Viewers in Canada will now be able to see Strikeforce shows on SuperChannel. Don't miss it!

Would be a good fight, Sarah is a very good striker with a decent ground game yet to be tested. Meisha is just a wonderful fighter, and a classy lady too. Gotta see this fight !
