AccuRadio Song Of The Day-The Prodigy

Artist:The Prodigy

Song:Firestarter

Album:Their Law: Singles 1990-2005

The Prodigy is an electronic music act very similar to The Chemical Brothers. The Prodigy had success in the 90s on the British charts and dance clubs. The 1996 single Firestarter was a top 30 pop hit in the US. The Prodigy are from Braintree, Essex, England led by Liam Howlett. He learned to play piano as a child. He got into DJing in the late 80s and that's when he met Keith Flint who would become the lead vocalist for The Prodigy. Others involved in The Prodigy were keyboard player Leeroy Thornhill, MC and dancer Keith "Maxim Reality" Palmer and female singer and dancer Sharkey. Howlett produced all the music in the studio. He turned it into a group so he could perform live. Howlett signed with XL Recordings which is also the home for Adele. After releasing a couple of singles, The Prodigy released their 1992 debut album Experience. They had success in clubs and on the British charts right from the start. Firestarter is from the 1996 album The Fat of the Land. Flint's vocals on Firestarter and the second single Breathe were a big factor. Firestarter and Breathe topped the British Singles chart. Firestarter reached #30 on the Billboard Hot 100. The album was certified 2XPlatinum. After Thornhill left in 1999, The Prodigy went on hiatus until 2002. They haven't been as successful since then. This comp is a good intro to The Prodigy's music. The Prodigy's latest album was released in 2018. Keith Flint committed suicide on Mar. 4, 2019. Howlett has decided to continue The Prodigy. He is working on a new album and a documentary. Here's the video for Firestarter by The Prodigy.
