AccuRadio Song Of The Day-Barbra Streisand

Artist:Barbra Streisand f/Barry Gibb

Song:Guilty

Album:The Essential Barbra Streisand

Believe it or not, the 1980 album Guilty is the biggest selling album in Barbra Streisand's career. It sold 15M copies worldwide and was certified 5XPlatinum. Guilty was one of three top ten hits from the album. This is a duet with Barry Gibb. He wrote and produced the album. The Bee Gees were riding so high on the success of the 1977 film Saturday Night Fever they could do whatever they wanted. Barbra approached Gibb about writing songs for her next album. At first he was only going to write half of the album. But it went so well he decided to do the whole album. The Bee Gees wrote half the songs including Guilty. They also wrote the other big hit Woman In Love. Co-producer Albhy Galuten co-wrote three songs and he and Karl Richardson co-produced the album. Woman In Love was the first single and it topped the charts. My guess is if Guilty had been the first single, it would have topped the charts. But it was the second single and it reached #3 on the Billboard Hot 100. Guilty won a Grammy for Best Pop Vocal Performance Duo, Group or Chorus and it was nominated for three others including Record of the Year. The album Guilty is available as a budget CD. But you can also get the single on this 2CD budget comp. In 2005, Barbra and Gibb recorded the album Guilty Pleasures which is called Guilty Too in England. Here's Barbra Streisand featuring Barry Gibb performing Guilty on the 1986 Barbra Streisand TV special One Voice. This is available on DVD.
