AccuRadio Song Of The Day-The Builders and the Butchers

Artist:The Builders and the Butchers
Song:Vampire Lake
Album:Where The Roots All Grow

Fans of folk rock groups like The Decemberists should check out The Builders and the Butchers. Group leader Ryan Sollee is from Anchorage, AK. He moved to Portland in 2003 with his band The Born Losers. After they split up, he formed a new band with Alex Ellis, Ray Rude, Paul Seely and Harvey Tumbleson. At first they were called The Funeral Band which was wisely changed to The Builders and the Butchers. They released their debut album in 2007. Vampire Lake is from the 2010 album Where the Roots All Grow which they self released and is available as a digital download. Sollee is lead singer and he writes the lyrics. The band also has two drummers which seems to give this band more pop than expected. Ellis and Seely left and were replaced by Willy Kunkel and Justin Baier. The Builders and the Butchers currently record for the Portland label Badman and their latest album Spark was released in 2017. They may be recording a new album as they aren't on tour right now. Folk rock fans should check them out. Here's The Builders and the Butchers performing Vampire Lake at The Woods at Musicfest NW in Portland Sept. 11, 2010 for Seattle radio station KEXP.
