Here's the match video of Kairi Sane vs Dakota Kai from the quarter finals of the Mae Young Classic. Dakota is 29 years old from New Zealand. She wrestled as Evie until signing with the WWE. She beat Rhea Ripley in round two though I like Rhea better than her. I understand what the WWE likes about her. she has that girl next door look. She's an OK wrestler but I don't think she's great. Apparently the story here is Dakota's right knee is bothering her. This is mentioned several times on commentary which leads me to believe it's a phony injury. The match is OK but not as good as Kairi's other tournament matches. The end of the match comes when Kairi's attempt at a superplex isn't going to work because her legs are outside the ropes. Obviously this was done deliberately so Kairi could be in the tree of woe to set up Dakota's phony baloney double foot stomp finisher. But Kairi lets go of the ropes and Dakota misses and tweaks her knee. Of course this leads to Kairi's flying elbow drop and the finish. I hope this means the WWE will trash Dakota's finisher and find something else for her to use. Kairi moves on to the semi finals. I'll get to that in a minute. Enjoy the video!
