AccuRadio Song Of The Day-Pat Green

Artist:Pat Green

Song:Wave on Wave

Album:Wave on Wave

The 2003 single Wave on Wave was the only top ten country hit for singer songwriter Pat Green. He had chart success but he was never able to reach the elite level. He currently records for his own label. He was born Apr. 5, 1972 in San Antonio, TX and he was raised in Waco. Green's father was in the Air Force and he got Green into music. After his parents divorced, his mom remarried. He started writing songs while attending Texas Tech University. After playing local clubs, Green borrowed money from his parents to record an album in 1995. Then he went on tour with Willie Nelson. Green's tour was sponsored by Miller Lite. Then he signed with MCA Records. Green recorded four albums for MCA. The 2003 album Wave on Wave was his most successful album. It was certified Gold. The single Wave on Wave reached #3 on the Country Singles chart. Green wrote most of the songs with co-writers. He wrote Wave on Wave with David Neuhauser and Justin Pollard who were in his band at the time. The album was produced by Don Gehlman except Wave on Wave was produced by Tony Brown. It looks like Brown was brought in to produce a hit single. Green continued to work with Gehlman on subsequent albums but was unable to score another big hit. CMT criticized Green for not being distinctive enough. So he moved over to RCA's BNA label. For the 2009 album What I'm For, he worked with producer Dann Huff. It didn't help and Green left BNA and moved back to Texas. He still tours but he now records for his own label. His latest album was released in 2022. CMT's criticism of Green was probably fair. Green just didn't stand out from the crowd. By the time he tried working with a different producer, it was too late. Here's the video for Wave on Wave by Pat Green.
