Artist:Wolf Alice
Song:Bros
Album:My Love Is Cool
After success in their native England, Wolf Alice are making inroads in North America with songs like Bros and Moaning Lisa Smile in the Alternative Rock market. They could break through in a big way with their next album. Wolf Alice was formed in London in 2009 by lead singer Ellie Rowsell and guitarist Joff Oddie. The name Wolf Alice is from a short story by Alice Carter. They started out as an acoustic duo but then decided to become a band by adding Ellie's friend Sarah Cleary on bass and Oddie's friend George Barlett on drums. After releasing an EP, Barlett broke his wrist and was replaced by Joel Amey. Sarah returned to school and was replaced by Theo Ellis. The song Leaving You was released on Soundcloud. It got airplay on BBC Radio 1 and Wolf Alice released the single Fluffy. Then they released Bros and the EP Blush. They finally signed with Dirty Hit Records and that just got them better distribution in England. They were named Best Breakthrough Band at the 2014 UK Festival Awards. They also won iTunes and NME awards. Wolf Alice's full length debut CD My Love Is Cool was released June 2015 on RCA in the US. The album was produced by Arctic Monkeys producer Mike Crossley. Moaning Lisa Smile and Bros both got significant airplay on alternative radio in the US. They toured the US in late 2015. They are currently touring Europe but they will appear at Lollapalooza in July. They released the single Freazy a few months ago but they should begin work on a new album after they finish touring. Wolf Alice is a band to watch. Be the first on your block to check them out here. Here's the video for Bros by Wolf Alice.
