Here is the video of Ayumi Kurihara's retirement ceremony from Aug. 4 at Korakuen Hall. Normally I would also post Ayumi's retirement match. But it's not very good. The match is way too long at almost a half hour and it really drags through the middle part of the match. The match is Ayumi teaming with Miki Iida and AKINO vs Aja Kong, GAMI and Tomoka Nakagawa. There are a couple of good comedy spots especially every joshi wrestler at the show splashing Ayumi in the corner. It's just way too long. Maybe it needed more clipping. On the other hand, I wish Ayumi's retirement ceremony had run unedited. I still enjoyed it. The retirement ceremony is the one thing the Japanese fight business still does well. It looks like every current joshi wrestler was there. The STARDOM, JWP and Ice Ribbon all came in groups. The biggest deal was the appearance of Michiko Ohmukai and her daughter. This was followed by Ayumi's best friend Tomoka Nakagawa and Ayumi's doppelganger Miki Iida. The cherry on top of the sundae was AKINO giving Ayumi an M's Style championship belt. As i'm sure fans are aware, Ayumi was trained at M's Style by AKINO. The belt around Ayumi's waist was pretty cool. Of course Ayumi's parents were there and mom seemed pleased about the whole thing. Then we had the ten bell salute with a different wrestler ringing the bell each time. Then the streamers and Ayumi was carried out on everyone's shoulders. We all miss Ayumi but I enjoyed the retirement ceremony and you will too.
