AccuRadio Song Of The Day-Matt Maher

Artist:Matt Maher

Song:Alive Again

Album:Alive Again

The 2009 album and single Alive Again established singer songwriter Matt Maher as a force in the CCM market and he's been going strong ever since. He was born Nov. 10, 1974 in St. John's, NF. His parents recognized his musical talent early. So he took piano lessons as a child and could play any kind of music as a teen. After studying at Memorial University of Newfoundland, Maher continued his studies in the jazz department of Arizona State University in Phoenix. After Maher graduated with a music degree, he moved to Mesa and became youth pastor and music director at his church. That's when he started writing songs. After releasing three albums on a small label, Maher signed with Sony owned Essential Records. The 2009 album Alive Again was his second album for Essential. Both the album and the single Alive Again did well in the CCM market. His sales have been strong ever since but this album established him. The producers Paul Moak and Christopher Stevens have produced other CCM artists. Moak owns his own studio in Nashville. Moak played guitar on the album. Maher wrote all the songs usually with a co-writer. Alive Again was written with Jason Ingram who has written hits for CCM acts like Bebo Norman and Point of Grace. Maher has continued to work with Moak on subsequent albums. He moved his family to Nashville so they would be close to him. Maher has continued to have success in CCM. He has won three Dove Awards. His latest album was released in 2020 but it looks like a new album is coming as he recently released a new single. Matt Maher is currently on tour. Here's Matt Maher performing Alive Again on the CCM radio station K-LOVE.
