Welcome to Frank Pozen's Big Bad Blog. A lot of folks have been asking me to update them about my recovery. So I thought I would start a blog primarily to do that but also to talk about other topics of interest including the wrestling business and whatever else I can think of. I plan to update this on a regular basis so check back and leave a comment if you wish.

Big Bad Blog Video Theater-Karolina Kowalkiewicz vs Jodie Esquibel
Here's the match video of Karolina Kowalkiewicz vs Jodie Esquibel from yesterday's UFC show in Gdansk, Poland. This aired in Canada on The Fight Network and on UFC Fight Pass. The big deal was that Karolina was fighting at home just like in KSW. She lost a title shot and then lost to Claudia Gadelha. So she needed a win and she was favoured to win over Jodie. Though Jodie was making her UFC debut, most fans should be familiar with her from Invicta and TUF 23. Both are kickboxers with no power meaning both are points fighters. I think Karolina is marginally better at that so I expected her to win by unanimous decision. And that's what happened. Karolina is a better distance fighter. And that's how she won round one. And in round two it almost looked like Karolina might get a finish. No such luck. If a fighter is clearly losing, she should want to change what she is doing or go to a plan B. But even back in her Invicta days, I noticed that Jodie doesn't seem to be able to do that. She only knows how to fight one way. That means if she's losing, she can't come back. And that's why I don't think she belongs in the UFC. She's a one note fighter who can't adjust her style. That won't work in the UFC. So does this win mean that Karolina is back in the title picture? No because Jodie is not an elite fighter. Karolina did ask for Jessica Andrade. Another name I would throw out there is Cynthia Calvillo who has a fight coming up. A win over either of them would get her back in the title picture. Enjoy the video!
