STARDOM held a press conference today to announce the card for Io Shirai's 5th anniversary show Mar. 4 at Shin-kiba 1st Ring. Since Io joined the STARDOM roster a few months ago, she has added much needed charisma and solid ring skills. Most of these girls don't know what they are doing and Io is trying to help them. At the press conference, Io said she is very excited about the anniversary show already. But mostly she is excited about the main event. Io will team with Dark Angel AKA Sarita in TNA against Nanae Takahashi and Miho Wakizawa. They are billing her as Dark Angel because CMLL is a much bigger deal in Japan than TNA. Io says that when she went to Mexico a while back, she became friends with Dark Angel. And of course Dark Angel has worked for A To Z and Fuuka Matsuri. So of course STARDOM owner Rossy Ogawa asked her to appear at this special event. Coincidentally Dark Angel is celebrating her 10th year in wrestling. She has probably had the most ring names of any wrestler in history especially in her early days in Canada. When she was in Mexico, Io visited retired ARSION wrestler Ai Fujita who lives in Mexico. She asked Ai if she wanted to appear on Io's anniversary show. So Ai Fujita will be in Io's corner. I think this will be her first appearance at a joshi show since her retirement. In an exhibition match, Io will appear as the masked IOTICA against Masked Aikawa with Tiger Fuuka as special ref. The masked lucha thing is a trend in Japan right now. I could live without it. The other matches on the show are standard STARDOM fare.
