Sax player Jacam Manricks was born in Australia but he now lives in the US. He is a teacher at UC Davis and a member of the Vanguard Jazz Orchestra. And he has recorded a few albums as a leader. His parents are both classical musicians and his grandfather played jazz clarinet. He started playing alto sax at age nine. Manricks moved to New York in 2001 and earned a Doctor of Musical Arts degree at Manhattan School of Music. Obviously he played New York clubs. And he is a long time member of the Vanguard Jazz Orchestra. Manricks has recorded a few albums as a leader. Sketch is from the 2010 album Trigonometry on Posi-Tone. Manricks wrote all but one song. Musicians are Scott Wendholt on trumpet, Alan Ferber on trombone, Gary Versace on piano, Joe Martin on bass and Obed Calvaire on drums. It's worth checking out. Manricks is on the faculty of UC Davis and he holds teaching positions at other schools. His latest album Chamber Jazz was released on his own label in 2016. I Write Sins Not Tragedies was a top ten hit in 2005. It was from Panic! At The Disco's debut album A Fever You Can't Sweat Out. It's their best selling album to date. Panic! At The Disco are from Las Vegas. Guitarist Ryan Ross and drummer Spencer Smith were childhood friends who were high school classmates. They invited bassist Brent Wilson from a nearby high school and he brought his friend Brendon Urie to try out. Urie was made lead singer during rehearsals. At first they were a Blink-182 cover band. A demo was sent to Fall Out Boy bassist Pete Wentz and he signed Panic! At The Disco to his Decaydance label distributed by Fueled By Ramen and Elektra. They hadn't even played a live gig yet and they are signed to a major label. They moved to Maryland to record A Fever you Can't Sweat Out with producer Matt Squire. The big surprise was when the single I Write Sins Not Tragedies reached #7 on the Billboard Hot 100. The success was mostly because MTV played the video incessantly and it won the 2006 MTV MVA Video of the Year. The success of the single propelled the album to be certified 3XPlatinum. Brent Wilson was fired in May 2006 for not contributing enough to the band, a claim he disputed. Jon Walker replaced him. The 2008 album Pretty. Odd. was more mellow than the first album so it didn't do as well. When a debut album is successful, fans don't want the music to change. In 2009, Ross and Walker left to form the short lived band The Young Veins. They released one album. After filling in on bass for a tour, Dallon Weekes was made a permanent member of the band for the 2012 album Vices & Virtues. Panic! At The Disco have been consistent sellers since then. Smith left in 2015 and in the studio Urie is a one man band. He hires musicians for touring. High Hopes was a top five hit in 2018. There are no Panic! At The Disco comps but A Fever You Can't Sweat Out is available as a budget CD. Urie recently appeared on Taylor Swift's latest album. Blanca Santiago Batista had brief success in dance clubs as Nyasia. The 1991 single Who's Got Your Love was her best known single. She was born July 31, 1967 in West Palm Beach, FL. She signed with the freestyle label Micmac in 1990. Micmac owner Mickey Garcia did produce some of the songs on her 1994 album Nyasia. But her first single Now and Forever was produced by Nelson "FFWD" Cruz and Mike "The Crusher" Lorello. Cruz recorded for his own label and he produced Micmac artists like Clear Touch and George Anthony who wrote Now and Forever. Lorello was a recording engineer. That single did well enough in clubs that Cruz and Lorello produced the second single Who's Got Your Love and that did even better. It even charted on the lower end of the Billboard Hot 100. Subsequent singles did not do as well and neither did the 1994 album. That seemed to be the end of the road for Nyasia. But she's still around. She released an album in 2010. And she still performs. Jazz singer Patti Austin topped the charts in 1982 with Baby Come To Me. It was a hit because it appeared on the daytime soap General Hospital. For the most part, Patti is a jazz singer. She was born Aug. 10, 1950 in Harlem, NY but she grew up on Long Island. Her dad Gordon Austin played trombone. So plenty of musicians in the house. Dinah Washington, Quincy Jones and Sammy Davis Jr. are among those who claimed to be her godparents. Patti sang at The Apollo when she was four years old. As a teen, she got into session singing. She recorded singles for Coral, United Artists and Columbia. A couple were R&B hits. But I think most of us first heard of Patti when she recorded for Creed Taylor's CTI label in the 70s. These albums were arranged by either Bob James or Dave Grusin featuring jazz musicians like The Brecker Brothers, Joe Farrell, Richard Tee, Eric Gale, Steve Gadd and Ralph McDonald. After three albums for CTI, Patti moved to Quincy Jones' Qwest label and appeared on his 1981 album The Dude. Every Home Should Have One was Patti's Qwest debut album in 1981. Baby Come To Me topped the charts after it was used on the ABC daytime soap General Hospital. ABC got so many requests that Warner Bros. released it as a single and it topped the charts for two weeks. Of course it has a great vocal by Patti and James Ingram with background vocals by Michael McDonald. Rod Temperton wrote the song and arranged and played keyboards on the record. Patti scored another hit with a second duet with James Ingram How Do You Keep The Music Playing?. After four albums for Qwest, Patti moved to Dave Grusin's GRP label in 1990. She left the label in 1995 after it was sold. Patti Austin continues to record and tour. Her 2017 album Ella & Louis is a tribute to Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong recorded with James Morrison and the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra. Patti appeared in the 2013 Oscar winning doc Twenty Feet From Stardom which you should watch on Netflix. This comp covers the Qwest and GRP recordings. Animal Collective is an experimental rock band heavily influenced by Pink Floyd. I would describe them as neo psychedelic. Most of their success is as an album and touring band. They are from Baltimore. Noah "Panda Bear" Lennox and Josh "Deakin" Dibb have been friends since second grade. Dibb met David "Avey Tare" Portner and Brian "Geologist" Weitz in high school. They all played in different bands but they also jammed together at home. In 1997, they all went to college. Lennox and Dibb were in Boston. Portner and Weitz were in New York. They played together when they returned to Baltimore for the summer. They released an album in 2000 which is also when they started calling themselves Animal Collective. That's when they came up with the nicknames. And they also wore disguises on stage. They ditched that after a couple of years as too gimmicky. They released a few albums on their own label with FarCat distribution. They signed with Domino for the 2007 album Strawberry Jam. That was the first album that got rave reviews from Pitchfork and others. That was followed by the 2009 album Merriweather Post Pavillion. They appeared on Late Night with David Letterman. It's their most successful album to date. Moonjock is from the 2012 follow up album Centipede Hz. Animal Collective still records and tours. They also perform experimental visual arts. Invicta FC 39 analysis

Yesterday Invicta announced the full card for Invicta FC 39 Feb. 5. This will air on UFC Fight Pass at 8PM. The main event will have Jinh Yu Frey defending her Invicta Atomweight championship against Ashley Cummins. Jinh is 34 years old from Arlington, TX. Her record is 8-4. She won the title with a win over Minna Grusander that many felt Minna won and the judges messed up. She won the rematch by split decision but I thought she did better in that fight. Her Invicta fights are always close and that's a double edged sword. But I guess she is hard to read because the Kansas judges always seem to save their worst decisions for her fights. She also lost to Ayaka Hamasaki in Japan in one of the worst fights of the year. Ashley is 32 years old from St. Louis but she now trains at San Diego Combat Club. Obviously she has a lot of fans in the area. Her record is 7-4. The problem I see is she doesn't win fights decisively either. The champ has an advantage when the fight is a tossup like that. I have my doubts that Ashley can do enough to win the title. And you can't go by crowd reaction because Ashley is the home town favorite. In a Flyweight bout, Pearl Gonzalez will face Miranda Maverick. Pearl is 33 years old from Chicago but she trains at San Diego Combat Club. Sex appeal is her calling card. After an awful run in the UFC, Invicta propped her up against blah opponents. After losing a title shot, she got a win in her last fight. Miranda is 22 years old originally from Springfield, MO but she now lives in Norfolk, VA. Her record is 6-2. But the last time we saw her, she won the Phoenix Rising 2 tournament. So my guess is if she wins, she gets a Flyweight title shot. In a Flyweight bout Mariya Agapova will face Daiana Torquato. Mariya is 22 years old from Kazakhstan but she trains at American Top Team in Florida. Her record is 8-1. She has won two fights in Invicta against questionable opponents since failing to win a UFC contract on the Contender Series. Daiana is 29 years old from Brazil. Her record is 9-3. She made her Invicta debut on Phoenix Rising 2 and she lost in round two. In an Atomweight bout, Alisha Zappitella will face Kelly D'Angelo. Alisha is 24 years old. She trains at Scorpion in Michigan. Her record is 5-2. She looked great until she lost her last Invicta fight to Viviane Pereira. Then she lost to Kanna Asakura in RIZIN in Japan. Kelly is 32 years old from St. Louis which is why she is on this show. Her record is 4-2 and she won her last two Invicta fights. In a Flyweight bout, Erin Blanchfield will face Victoria Leonardo. Erin is 20 years old. She trains at Renzo Gracie in New York. Her record is 4-1. But the big deal about her is she won the Eddie Bravo Invitational a couple of years ago. I just don't think she has looked very good in Invicta especially after she lost to Tracy Cortez. Victoria is 29 years old from Shreveport, LA. Her record is 6-1. After she won her Invicta debut, she lost in the first round of the Phoenix Rising tournament. In an Atomweight bout, Jillian DeCoursey will face Linda Mihalec. Jillian is 35 years old from Long Island, NY. Her record is 3-2 and 2-2 in Invicta. Linda is 37 years old from Kentucky. She won her Invicta debut a few months ago. Both are too old to be prospects. And in the opener, Kristina Pettigrew will face an opponent TBA. Kristina is 1-0. She trains at Alliance in San Diego. This will be her Invicta debut at Bantamweight.

I guess the best way to describe Stryper is they were the CCM Van Halen. They are still around but most of their success was in the late 80s as an album and touring band. Stryper are from Orange County, CA. Lead singer, guitarist and songwriter Michael Sweet and his drummer brother Robert Sweet formed the band as Roxx Regime in 1983. They weren't a Christian band at first. Oz Fox was the second guitarist. When bassist Tim Gaines joined, the band name was changed to Stryper to reflect their Christian beliefs. They signed with EMI's Enigma label. There were struggles at first because CCM heavy metal was new. But eventually they were accepted and with the 1987 album To Hell with the Devil, they crossed over to mainstream rock mostly through MTV playing their videos. The album was certified Platinum and the single Honestly was a top 30 pop hit. The 1988 album In God We Trust was certified Gold. But Stryper had adopted a glam look which was popular at the time. and they were still criticized for not being Christian enough. So they became a more typical hard rock band with the 1990 album Against the Law. When that didn't go over well, they signed with Hollywood Records and a greatest hits album Can't Stop The Rock was released. Stryper went on tour but they weren't getting along. Michael Sweet left to go solo in 1992. After an unsuccessful attempt to recruit a new lead singer, Stryper split up in 1993. This budget comp is a good intro to their music. Sweet's solo albums were successful in the CCM market. Fox and Gaines formed SinDizzy and an album was released in 1998. After Sweet appeared on a 1999 SinDizzy show, Stryper eventually reformed and they are still around. Their latest album was released in 2018 and they still tour. Like many 80s bands, Stryper are now a nostalgia act. Here's the video for In God We Trust by Stryper.

Here's the match video of Riho vs Hikaru Shida vs Britt Baker vs Nyla Rose from last night's AEW show. So this was supposed to be Riho defending her AEW Women's Championship against Kris Statlander. But AEW didn't realize that Kris was booked elsewhere. So they are going to do that next week and that's when the title could change hands. I didn't expect that this week. The match is OK. Nyla attacks before the start of the match. But Hikaru hits her with a kendo stick followed by an enziguiri. There were good things and not so good things. Nyla's lack of quickness was notable especially when Hikaru hung on the ropes for what seemed like forever before she kicked Hikaru to the floor and put her through a table. At one point Hikaru hit a Michinoku Driver on Nyla for a near fall. Fans were audibly disappointed. They wanted a title change. The finish had Riho win with a flash pin on Britt. Afterwards, Nyla put Riho through a table. And later in the show, Britt attacked her during an interview segment. As I said, we could see a title change next week. Enjoy the video!

Josh Groban is a classically trained singer who was very successful a decade ago. His Christmas album Noel was the biggest selling album of 2007. Today he's trying to get more into acting. He was born Feb. 27, 1981 in Los Angeles. At first he wanted to be an actor. But as his voice developed he got more into singing. He was planning to attend college when his vocal coach Seth Riggs introduced him to producer David Foster. Andrea Bocelli was supposed to sing The Prayer with Celine Dion on the 1999 Grammy Awards broadcast. When Bocelli got sick, Groban stepped in. He had never performed on TV before. A week later he appeared on Rosie O'Donnell's talk show. And he appeared in the TV series Ally McBeal. Groban signed with Foster's 143 label with Warner Bros. distribution. Groban was always sold as an album artist. His biggest hit was the single You Raise Me Up from the 2003 album Groban. Most of his success was in the Adult Contemporary market. His albums sold millions. Silent Night is from Groban's 2007 Christmas album Noel. It was the best selling album of 2007 and it continues to sell well during Christmas season. It's been certified 6XPlatinum. That album is available as a budget CD. This 2CD comp is a good intro to Groban's music. Of course Groban has faded and his recent albums haven't done that well. He appeared on Broadway in the 2016 show Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812. He was nominated for a Tony. And he starred with Tony Danza in the Netflix series The Good Cop which was cancelled after one season. Since October Groban has starred in the Broadway show Freestyle Love Supreme. Big Bad Blog Fighter of the Year-Weili Zhang

Anyone familiar with my blog will know that I always celebrate the new year by naming my female fighter of the previous year. The fighter of the year for 2019 is UFC Strawweight Champion Weili Zhang. Weili is the first Chinese UFC champ. It's a big deal partially because the UFC has invested a lot in mainland China by building a UFC Performance Institute. They have signed several Chinese fighters. But there's no question that Weili has exceeded all expectations. She was born Aug. 13, 1989 in Handan, Hebei, China but she lives in Beijing. She got into martial arts training while working as a fitness instructor. Her trainers are Xuejun Cai and Pedro Jordao for Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Weili's record is 20-1. After losing her 2013 debut fight, Weili says she got angry and vowed that she wouldn't allow that to happen again. Since then she has been a wrecking machine. For most of her early career, she fought for the Chinese company Kunlun and she won the KLF Strawweight Championship in May 2017. The competition level in Kunlun is decent considering it can be difficult to get fighters to go there. Emi Fujino was probably her best known opponent in those days. After some title defenses, it was inevitable that Weili would sign with the UFC. Her UFC debut was at UFC 227 in Los Angeles against Danielle Taylor. Unfortunately, her coaches were unable to get visas to come with her. That could have been a disaster. But Weili showed her resolve. And though she was disappointed to not get a finish, she won by unanimous decision. Her next fight was in China against the veteran Jessica Aguilar. This is the fight that got a lot of attention because she destroyed a proven veteran fighter in the first round and finished her with an armbar. She followed this up with a unanimous decision win over Tecia Torres at UFC 235 in Las Vegas. The UFC's original plan was for Weili to fight Michelle Waterson on the main event of the Aug. 31 China show. When Michelle's husband/manager claimed that Weili wasn't well known enough, the UFC asked Jessica Andrade if she would defend her UFC Strawweight Championship in China. She said yes. And after Weili finished Jessica in less than a minute, she became the UFC Strawweight Champion. A star is born. For this performance and also for her ability to finish fights, Weili Zhang is my 2019 Fighter of the Year. She will make her first title defense against Joanna Jedrzejczyk on UFC 248 Mar. 7 in Las Vegas. Weili is training at Roufusport in Milwaukee to prepare for this. It should be very interesting. And don't be surprised if New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady is in attendance as he may be Weili's most famous fan.

Plumb is the stage name of CCM singer songwriter Tiffany Arbuckle. God Help Me was the first single from the 2018 album Beautifully Broken which is the first release on her own label. She was born Mar. 9, 1975 in Indianapolis but she grew up in Atlanta. After graduating from high school, Tiffany moved to Nashville. She worked as a background singer. After Silvertone Records had success with the CCM band Jars of Clay, They signed Tiffany as their second CCM artist in 1995. She decided to call herself Plumb after the Suzanne Vega song My Favorite Plum. She hit it off with next door neighbor and former Jars of Clay member Matt Bronlewee. He produced the first two Plumb albums. Though she won a Dove award for Modern Rock Album of the Year, Plumb's music was thought to be too dark for CCM. Some of her songs were covered by Alt Rock artists and the song Cut appeared in the TV series The Vampire Diaries. For the 2003 album Beautiful Lumps of Coal, Plumb signed with Curb Records. Bronlewee was still her producer. She did much better in the CCM market. And a remix of Cut was a dance hit. After four albums with continued success in CCM, Plumb and husband Jeremy Lee started their own label with Centricity distribution. Beautifully Broken was the first album in 2018. God Help Me was the first single and it did well. Plumb wrote the song with frequent collaborators Luke Sheets and Christa Wells. Big Daddy Weave guitarist Jeremy Redmon produced. Here's the match video of Ham Seo Hee vs Ayaka Hamasaki from today's RIZIN show in Japan. This is for Ayaka's RIZIN Super Atomweight Championship. It's been a while since these two have fought. Ham has improved a lot in those years. She could probably still be in the UFC if she wanted. But she can make more money fighting at home in Korea. She is the current Road FC Atomweight Champion. At age 37, Ayaka may be slowing down a bit. I thought her win over Jinh Yu Frey was a snoozefest. This match is three rounds. And keep in mind the judging is for the whole fight, not by the round like we do here. It's a close fight. I scored round one 10-9 for Ayaka. I thought she scored more with her jab and Ham seemed to have trouble finding her range. Ayaka gets a takedown in round two. But she makes the mistake of allowing Ham to apply a triangle. Though it was never close to a submission, Ham landed punches to the head. Ayaka needed to get out of it. It looked bad. So I scored it 10-9 for Ham. Ham seemed to break Ayaka's nose early in round three. Later on in the round, Ayaka got one of those dreaded headlock takedowns. Though Ayaka landed punches to the head, she was stuck because if she tries to advance her position, she could give up her back. So she rode it out to the end. I scored the round 10-9 for Ayaka because of the control. But I thought Ayaka needed to take a risk to get a decisive win. That's been a problem in Ayaka's recent fights. She's playing it safe. I think poor decisions cost her the fight as the judges scored it for Ham Seo Hee by split decision. It was close so a rematch is likely in the cards. The fight was OK but I didn't think either fighter was aggressive enough for me. Enjoy the video!

The theme from the 1985 film Weird Science was the biggest hit for Oingo Boingo. Though in their early days Oingo Boingo was praised for being quirky and offbeat, it wasn't until they embraced a more commercial sound that they had success in the mid-80s. They started out in 1972 as the Los Angeles street theater group The Mystic Knights of the Oingo Boingo founded by Richard Elfman. His brother Danny Elfman joined in 1974. He turned them into a band and shortened the name to Oingo Boingo. Guitarist Steve Bartek joined in 1976. Elfman wrote all the songs. Bartek wrote the arrangements. They started out performing all kinds of music. Elfman turned them into a new wave band in 1979. A 1980 EP got them a deal with I.R.S. Records and the single Only a Lad was played on Los Angeles new wave radio station KROQ. Mainstream commercial success would be more elusive. After three acclaimed but unsuccessful albums on A&M, Elfman considered disbanding Oingo Boingo. Instead he signed with MCA and decided the band's music would be more commercial. At this point, Oingo Boingo was Elfman, Bartek and session musicians. The album Dead Man's Party was released in 1985. The video for the theme from the 1985 film Weird Science went into heavy rotation on MTV. It reached #45 on the Billboard Hot 100. The album was certified Gold. After Weird Science director and writer John Hughes called him, Elfman wrote the song in his head while driving home. And once he got home, he recorded a demo. He says he hates the video. But I guess the bottom line is it was successful. One would think that this would launch Oingo Boingo into the mainstream. But this was when Elfman and Bartek scored the 1985 film Pee Wee's Big Adventure. And that led to scoring all of Tim Burton's films. Elfman is one of today's most successful composers. After starting out as an athlete, songwriting success led Chase Rice to a country music career. Maybe you saw him on Survivor. He was born Sept. 19, 1985 in Ormond Beach, FL. but he grew up in Ashville, NC. Rice was a linebacker on the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill football team. He did not pursue an NFL career due to injury. Instead he joined the Hendrick Motorsports pit crew. He won two NASCAR Championships with Jimmie Johnson. Then he appeared on the CBS reality series Survivor: Nicaragua. After finishing second, Rice got more serious about music. He began playing guitar in college. After releasing an album and an EP, Rice co-wrote the song Cruisin' which topped the Country Singles chart for Florida Georgia Line. He signed with Columbia for the 2013 EP Ready Set Roll and the 2016 album Ignite the Night. Ready Set Roll and Gonna Wanna Tonight were top ten Country singles. The album Ignite the Night was certified Gold. He started working on a new album and released the 2016 single Whisper. When it flopped and was slammed for not being country enough, Rice issued an apology to his fans. This led to him leaving Columbia for BMG's Broken Bow label. The album Lambs & Lions was released Nov. 2017. The single Eyes On You reached #3 on the Country Singles chart. Rice seems much happier on Broken Bow. He accused Columbia of trying to stifle his creativity. He wrote Eyes On You with with veteran songwriters Chris DeStefano and Ashley Gorley and DeStefano produced. Rice will tour Europe in early 2020. He should have a new album coming as a single was released in May. Here's the video for Eyes On You by Chase Rice.

The Canadian jazz trio Myriad3 were Juno nominated for the 2014 album The Where. The band has been successful since coming together by accident in 2010. Pianist Chris Donnelly is from Toronto. He earned a Master of Music degree at the University of Toronto and he is on the faculty there. He recorded solo in 2008. Drummer Ernesto Cervini is also from Toronto. After graduating from the University of Toronto, he studied at the Manhattan School of Music. He became a popular sideman. Since moving back to Toronto, Cervini has joined the faculty of the University of Toronto. Bassist Dan Fortin is from Peterborough. He has become a very successful sideman since moving to Toronto. The three had never played together when they wound up on the same stage in 2010 through substitutions and schedule conflicts. Sine then Myriad3 has recorded four albums for the Canadian label Alma. Donnelly records solo for them. Undertow was written by Donnelly for the 2014 album The Where. The album was nominated for a Juno. Their latest CD Vera was released in 2018. All three guys record as leaders and have other projects. Myriad3 usually tours the jazz festival circuit. So they could turn up at a jazz festival near you. Emily Whitmire vs Polyana Viana has been added to UFC 248 Mar. 7 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. This fight will be at Strawweight. Both fighters have had mixed success in the UFC. Emily is 28 years old. She trains at Xtreme Couture in Las Vegas. She is 4-3 and 2-2 in the UFC. She was in TUF 26 for Flyweights but she is a Strawweight. In her last fight, Emily was submitted in round one by Amanda Ribas. Polyana is 28 years old from Brazil. She is a former Invicta Strawweight Champion. Her record is 10-4 and 1-3 in the UFC. She's on a three fight losing streak and she has lost to fighters she should have beaten. So neither fighter has looked good. It wouldn't surprise me if the loser was cut.

The UFC announced yesterday that MIZUKI vs Tecia Torres has been added to UFC on ESPN 8 Mar. 28 at the Nationwide Arena in Columbus, OH. This fight will be at Strawweight. MIZUKI is 25 years old from Japan. She now lives in New York City and she trains at Longo Serra in Long Island. MIZUKI began fighting at 16 years old and that's how long I have covered her career. It looks like she has completely recovered from knee surgery from a couple of years ago. She came to the UFC as a late replacement on the Aug. show in China. And the fight was at Flyweight. She won the fight by split decision. Her opponent Yanan Wu was passive considering she had a big size advantage. And Wu missed weight. So I thought MIZUKI did great. Tecia is 30 years old. Her record is 10-5. She is on a four fight losing streak. She was once ranked top ten and now she is #13. It's probably time for her to retire. But she's still ranked and that's why MIZUKI is getting this fight. I never thought Tecia was a good fighter anyway. She was always a one dimensional points fighter. MIZUKI seems to have improved since moving to the US. Aljamain Sterling was in her corner last time out. So I like MIZUKI getting ranked by winning this fight. And maybe Tecia will finally retire and use her law enforcement degree.

Apollo LTD is an electronic music duo who have had success in the CCM market. They got mainstream attention when On The Way Up appeared in the Comedy Central sitcom The Other Two. Jordan Phillips and Adam Stark met in 2004 when they were roommates at Belmont University in Nashville. They worked on their music while working various jobs. The group name is because Phillips' uncle was an astronaut in the 90s. After a 2015 EP, Apollo LTD signed with the CCM label Centricity Music. After On The Way Up did well on the CCM charts, it was chosen to appear in the Comedy Central sitcom The Other Two. It's about a 13 year old boy who rockets to stardom after a viral video and how his family deals with it. Season two will premiere in Feb. Lorne Michaels is one of the producers. On The Way Up was used in the show's trailer. On The Way Up was only released as a single. Then they released the EP Out of Body. This EP was expanded to a 2019 album including On The Way Up 2.0. That is available on CD. Apollo LTD have opened for DNCE, Kesha and Panic! At The Disco. They will tour in 2020. They might want to consider signing with a secular label as Apollo LTD looks to have potential beyond the CCM market.
